Default Councilman Clarke got to GO!

He is selling north philly out!
The neighborhoods in north philly are horrible. Councilman Clarke is in bed with Temple. It's funny how Temple can say I am going to come into this area, and build, and take over. If the community go to Temple and say look we are taking this area over to build, they would say lawsuit, and f yourself!

Now this one is more controversial as Temple is the only thing keeping that part of the very large North Philly alive.

Temple needs to grow, or it can't compete with the already larger Drexel/HUP campus. Plus Temple doesn't have the glitz of that campus.

And quite frankly, Temple cares more about that area then the community who let it get that way. Maybe because Temple wants to make it a place safe for its children.

So you can't blame Temple that the neighborhoods in north philly are horrible. They got that way through time, once Temple has ful control of Broad the North Avenue of the Arts can begin.

I thought about that, but according to this rather generously written profile (Isaiah Thompson really seems to love him...) he doesn't like the spotlight. So he might be more comfortable and prefer to be a sort of puppetmaster behind the scenes. He can stay in City Council until they carry him out in toe tags, whereas in the Mayor's office, there is a finite term.

Which reminds me...is there a cheestesteak of the day club somewhere? Who's interested in donating?

Umm, thanks, but that was post #4. Did you just want to bump this for everyone else?

Clarke sucks. His student housing ban is completely ridiculous.

I perceive Temple as being pretty supportive of their community (am I missing something?), and they get crap like that in return.

Meanwhile, Drexel has historically treated Powelton Village like dirt and done whatever they want, with huge benefits.

You know, it's just fine. I think the more people that are aware of this, the better.

Funny you should mention that because the Inquirer did a piece on Powelton Village today.
