    Default Fire in Brewerytown Square

So I wake up to the soothing sound of diesel engine idling and radio chatter to find the fire plug in front of my house being tapped by PFD. I decide to follow the hose to the far side of my complex where several dozen neighbors and more firetrucks and men are working on what was a huge fire in a few BTS units. The whole building was evacuated (there are 6 total in BTS) and the investigators are at work determining the cause. Its going to be a loooooong day at work tomorrow.

Coals remain hot for a long time. It's a hidden danger. A little wind comes and blows off the old dead coals revealing still hot coals. The added o2 from the wind stokes the coals and carries them out of the grill onto flammable surface (patio chair, deck...etc). It's why you gotta cover your grill when you are done and spread the coals out to let them cool!

I doubt that you would be joking if you were to witness this fire last night.
The firemen were incredible, regardless, 2 people lots their homes, as well as 4 were badly damaged.

Great. Now with a few boards and screws, Brewerytown Square will look a little more like Brewerytown.

Nobody was seriously injured, right? I heard one person went to the hospital; any news as to his or her status?

One person was rescued from the roof and another was treated for smoke inhalation. All of the neighbors went out of their way to help each other. My heart goes out to those who lost everything. The rebuilding process has already begun!

Bravo to all of the firemen!

Yeah. My friend was in the house next to the fire. Glad he was fine.

I was out walking the other day and went by the site of this fire to see if anything had been done in terms of clean-up and rebuilding. I was surprised to see that the houses are all still boarded up. Any notions as to what they're going to do about these places? Have the residents just moved on?

Insurance. Fires take time to get cleaned up. Insurance issues have to get resolved first.

You are still responsible for paying your mortgage.

Right. Your mortgage company is listed as an additional insured. They aren't going to let someone get $300K and walk away from the mortgage.

I speak from experience. The bank gets the money and disburses it in accordance with their collateral being protected. In my case the bank held more than they were owed, which bothered me. Inremember the city taking a chunk in case it had to demolish the building, too.
