    Default Possible Lost Cat

A cat with no collar or tag began appearing in my backyard (near 29th and Poplar) daily two weeks ago. His visits are becoming more frequent and longer and my kids want to adopt him.

Description: reddish brown, long haired with black face. White nose, neck and belly. Friendly and appears well fed.

If your cat matches the description, please reply.

Does the cat have a nipped ear - it indicates she was fixed. If so I we know the cat and she is great and is most likely in need of home - a neighbor was taking her in but I don't know if it is permanent home. We feed her when we see her. You should post a photo.

Oh and the one I'm referring to is a girl so if yours is def. a boy it could be one from her litter - she had 2 litters before getting fixed.

Yes, it does have a nipped ear so this is most likely the same cat. I purchased a collar and placed a note on it asking the owner to call me (if she does indeed have an owner).

It's def. her then. We haven't seen her if a couple of days but if you don't hear anything in a few days then you should just adopt her. She is great and really sweet and should not be outside.

We would've taken her, she likes us and likes our porch, but we had cats already and they didn't get along. FYI - She did have some sticky grass things on her belly fur as of last week, my husband tried to get them but she wiggled away - he got the ones on her tail and back.

Good Luck - post something if you do adopt her!

Yep, that's her. We noticed the same sticky things. I purchased a collar on Saturday, wrote a note asking the owner (if she had one) to call me, and attached the note to the collar. I received a call the next day from the owner who indicated the cat was an outdoor car and was well cared for.

The cat continues to spend a good portion of the day in our yard, however. And interestingly, the owner took off the collar and kept it so I can't even reuse it for another cat!

Really, they said/did that. Did they say that they let her in at night. It's not good she stays outside all the time, even if she is "well cared for". My husband found her today outside and she was cold and soaking wet and he let her come in, dried her off and fed her and he said the collar was gone too, they should have atleast given/or offered to give the collar back. I agree with Gideon, if she's still in your yard most of the day then take her, it's against the SPCA/law to let the cat be an outside cat - it's actually illegal for us to leave food out on our porch for her. The SPCA was around back in September and they said we could get fined for the food on the porch and suggested we don't leave it out all the time.

I never spoke with the owner - he just left a voice mail - but he said that he was the owner and it was an outdoor cat. I'm surprised that the cat has an owner because it sounds like she is outside all day and night based upon all of the time it spends at your house and mine.

I'll call him back and and at least ask that he put the collar back on her so that I can have it back.
