Wowww! I'm surprised Philadelphia Magazine even mentioned Brewerytown (this is not a knock on Brewerytown). I didn't think this mag. would go anywhere near North Philly. We're making progress.

    To clarify:

Article here, where BTown is not one of the top 10 neighborhoods.

It does say, after it calls GHO "The Next Big Thing"
You might also like: Art Museum expansion areas Fairmount Avenue (around 16th Street) and from there to Brewerytown have similar vibes and price points, and many more condos.

My main problem with Gho, or Btown:

What you don’t (get): Upscale grocer, retail, and safer streets.

Hopefully the grocery will be solved this year.

Retail we are always working on and it has improved.

Safety is obviously a top concern and takes time.

I love that my hometown got recognized.

Downingtown was a surprise. Maybe I don't give it enough credit.

Why is only one neighborhood in Philadelphia actually spotlighted...in Philadelphia Magazine?

would it make you feel better if it was Philadelphia area magazine? I wouldn't say it's inconsistent with, say, how my doctor, who lives in chester county, views Philadelphia. in some sense, it's actually a very good measure of how Philadelphia is doing.

    CHicken/Egg

No rich residents no "rich" stores.

Stores look at income of res.

Maybe the census will assist the cause?
I'm not seeing all these supposed bikes in all these million dollar bike lanes.

me too, it's definitely more than just the suburbs. It's always included the chestnut hill area as long as I can remember, now it also focuses on center city quite a bit. you know, the city once planned a chestnut hill to main line highway.

I've long thought there are a lot of parallels between Grad Hospital and Brewerytown. Both had neglected commercial corridors, both had a history of drug crime, and both had a strong community history/culture.
