    Default Wahington Ave Connector

Are there any plans out there to improve the eastern end of Washington Ave to Delaware Ave?

I think there are plans for repave Washington Ave. and have some Water Department work on it in the next few years. That might involve changes to that intersection. I believe this is the project I heard about so it's somewhat old and tentative. I heard about it within the last year but nothing specific.

Interesting but I was thinking more along the streetscape lines connecting the residential area to the river (and the river trail).

Every time I've questioned that on here people start ranting that it's an "industrial corridor". I'd personally love to see it greened up. But you've got a lot of old school South Philadelphians in that area who still think concrete is clean and leaves are dirt.

Well, when I say Water Department plans I'm assuming it's fixing the sewer lines (and storage?) while adding 'green infrastructure' which will have inlets tied to streetscape improvements.

Can we please stop calling them "connectors"?

The Race Street connector is improvements made to an underpass to make it more pedestrian friendly.

Doing the same on Washington would involve tidying up a few blocks.

Connectors make it sound like you're building a bridge.

Washington Ave. does not intersect Del. Ave. Del. Ave. begins at Spring Garden. You mean Wash. Ave. to Columbus Blvd.

... Which is, in a way, exactly what's going on, when you think about it.

If you are really a philadelphian your statement is completely false.

When I think "Washington Avenue Connector" I think light rail or a bus.

Of course it's West River Drive. Martin Luther King means it's in a ghetto.

Hey folks, I realize I contributed to this diversion, but I really would like this discussion to stay on topic. If you want to keep the off-thread going( which I am all for) start a new thread.

    Thanks.

I think this plan will put forth a concept for your connector.

has anyone even checked out that Washington Trail thing? I have mentioned it to people, and not one has known what I am talking about, it's pretty hidden, and the signage is tiny. What is it exactly, just a bike path along the river, behind the union building? And is there a big need for a "Connector" on Washington, not a whole lot of houses between 2nd and the river...
