Now that's worthwhile, thanks for the additional info. I'm been in love with Philips DVD players ever since I got my lovely DVP-642, because they play just about EVERY format and are very forgiving of improperly-encoded discs. The 5962 is also an excellent upconverter from DVD to HD. This looks they've got Philips beat as far as range of formats. (If only, like the original DVP-642, this player would ignore PUOs, it's be perfect!
) I'd take a chance that their DVD upconversion to HD is pretty good too, since so many manufacturers are finally getting it right.
I'm going to check Afterdawn and Videohelp to be sure though. Looks promising.
